It snowed

So I went outside with nothing but my shorts on and flexed and roared and looked primal.  Nobody was around to take pictures, though.

I’m pretty alone in Anderson tonight.  The girls fled for fear of weather.  They all made it home fine, except Megan who apparently had an incident.  I think those things have to be self fulfilling or something.  She’s fine though, just slid around a bit or something.

The main Asians are still here.  They made me dinner and I made them dessert.  They’re all leaving early tomorrow to go on a grand vacation adventure.

Mom’s coming to get me tomorrow and take me home.  Just Aaron and Kim for the first few days, but Pat’s coming back, and Donny, and Sidney may even visit.  Should be fun times.

Donny was up visiting but he ran away, too.  He’s got this cool work setup where he has to drive back to Portland every weekend.  Neato, huh?

I got an A in 480, that’s the capstone class.  I got A-‘s in Boris’s classes, which is good, considering.  I somehow only got a B in Physics, even though it was probably the easiest class.  I think most of the blame falls on having a final at 8 am.  I don’t do well at 8 am.  It’s ok, though, was taking it just for fun and all.  Grades were up really fast this quarter.

I should sleep so I can wake up when or before mom get’s here.  Sidney actually updated her blog.  There are videos featuring my voice from when we went to Lauren’s house last weekend.  That’s all for now.

I got a card from my parents, con dinero, which was nice, and a bunch of the Asians got together and made me this card. I think the art was done by Aki. It’s pretty awesome, as you can see, so it was nice.

Sidney and Dan and maybe some others made curry for dinner for me. Added some spice and pineapple.  It was very good.  I like curry.  Sidney also bought me some milk and Kix, which I mentioned a week or so ago I was considering desirable, and mint chocolate chip ice cream. Come to think of it, Sidney like mint chocolate chip too, so maybe it wasn’t really for me. Regardless, the ice cream went nicely with the cake Lauren made for me, and half successfully frosted with help from her visiting friend, Katie.  The cake was good, but not as good as the cake I’m gonna make her on Monday. Hiro got me a couple erasers because he found out I’ve been lacking, and Yusuke got me a couple nice mechanical pencils cause the one I’ve been using all quarter is… ragged.

Elisabeth and Martha both claim to have gifts for me coming soon.

So, for all of you who wished me a happy birthday, your wish came true.  And for all those who didn’t, a pox on your children! (because I obviously believe in punishment for the sins of the father)

Oh yeah, and Sidney also wore her glasses all day cause I dislike contacts, and maybe tried to dress a little more slovenly than usual. Kinda hard to tell. A female altering her appearance in any way at my behest, if only for my birthday, is none the less kinda touching.

I’ve been thinking way too long trying to come up with a title

I registered for Winter quarter classes on Friday.  I got to register way before everyone else, cause I’m awesome.  I’m signed up for five 400 level computer science courses.  I’ve decided against taking the second quarter of Modern Physics so I can take Computational Intelligence.  I’m also taking Operating Systems, Software Engineering part II, which is where we actually build the crazy thing I’ve been getting all the paperwork together for this quarter, a little senior colloquium thing about ethics, prolly lots of presentations and papers, and I’m a TA for a class yet to be determined.  Grading papers and everything.  If I get lucky and the class I TA for is in the afternoon, then I have no classes before noon.  Such a thing would be a nice boon.

Parents stopped by on the way to Seattle.  Bought me food and such.  Maybe tomorrow I’ll make lentil stew.  Yusuke bought swim trunks at Goodwill so he could go swimming with the group tonight.

Dan, Hiro, Yusuke, Luke, Lauren, Sidney, Elisabeth, and I all went swimming.  Well, Elisabeth went to the pool, not into the pool.  She read or something.  I threw a water polo ball, I guess that’s what it was, at Yusuke‘s head, and gave him a bloody nose.  Was a stupid thing for me to do.  He’s ok, but it was still very stupid.  I don’t normally do stupid things.  /sigh  The full story is something like, Yusuke and Hiro were having a splash war, Lauren got caught in the cross fire, she splashed at Yusuke, Yusuke splashed back, Lauren says, “Throw this at his head,” I throw the ball at the back of Yusuke‘s head, he turns at the wrong time, he throws the ball back, then we notice he has a small blood loss problem.

With all the swimming, and showering associated with swimming, I’m more motivated to get rid of my hair.  I want to have my beard without my hair for a while, though, so hopefully Sidney will find time and courage to cut my hair for me soon.

I get my Tuesday class cancelled this week.  Woo hoo.  I guess at least I’ll get to sleep in.

Titles are for sissies

I’ve been pretty busy this week.  Mostly done now, though.  I went swimming with Lauren, Sidney, Dan, and Hiro, and like 50 strangers.  I got a blister on my pinky from the flippers I wore the whole time.

I wish John Hodgman hadn’t taken that whole, “That is all” thing, cause I was doing it years ago, just not consistantly, and now I can’t use it or everyone will think I’m referencing him for some reason.

It’s kinda hard to explain, but, I think, Sidney‘s found some of the humor in that the helmet/glasses combo makes her look kinda retarded.

I made lentil stew this weekend.  One of those days, Saturday I think.  I even had a little veggie side portion for Sidney.  Lauren did the grocery run for me cause there was a preponderance of people wanting to go, but she didn’t believe me when I wrote tomato juice on the list so she got tomato sauce.  We just diluted it 1/3 and it worked fine.  Might actually be cheaper that way.  Got leftover ingredients.  All I need is onions and beef and I could make some more.  I thought it was good.  It never gets the acclaim my milkshakes do, though.

Got to a 7:20 mile today.  So that’s faster than last time, and is extra impressive since my legs were sore when I started because I’ve been doing fairly extensive DDRing over the weekend.  Lauren has been showing increased interest in DDR lately, so I have a partner.

I also got the highest score on the physics test.  33.5 out of 34.  Low was 9.5, but, I think, that must be quite the outlier.

That’s about the end of the good news school wise, though.  Well, I haven’t done poorly on anything yet, it’s just the work that’s upcoming that is lame.  Resume thing due tomorrow, which I already did, but it wasn’t very fun.  Plus, it’s one of those stupid assignments with no real point and it is therefore difficult to know what is expected.  Then I might have a test on Wednesday.  Can’t tell because the professor doesn’t know, or didn’t during class, and his online schedule has no dates.  Useful.  It’s sometime this week though for sure.  I also have another one of those stupid research papers.  They’ve gotten stupider because he explained how he wants us to use super official references.  References are fine if it’s a real research paper, but there’s no primary literature on the history of RAM, so referencing bad sources is just going to get harder.  Whatever.  I also have a basic weekly homework assignment in that class, but I did that already.  That was fine.  Then in my other class with that prof I have a test on Friday, and normal homework, also finished already.  Kinda really lame, but easy.  And the resume professor is giving me a test on Friday, too.  That’s all, except I’ll get homework in physics tomorrow.

I’m irritated that I’m in 3 upper level computer science classes, we’re in week 5, or something, and I’ve written no code.  Not a single line.  You know what I like about computer science?  Code.  You know how I learn computer science?  By coding.  /rolls eyes

/sigh

On another note, there may or may not be a person I know who has Fable 2 early.  I’ve spent a few hours watching.  Looks basically like Fable… only better?  It’s fairly fun to watch and make jokes and stuff.

Oh, and like it says on Lauren’s blog, we watched Wayne’s World for free today.  Kinda like back in the Linfield days.  I got the 3 noobs, Yusuke, Elisabeth, and Lauren, to come see it, and then there was Sidney and I as old fans.  It was a big hit.  I re-love that movie.  Maybe they liked it enough they’ll rent the sequel?  Maybe?

Also on Lauren’s blog, everyone’s leaving this weekend like they did weekend before last.  This time they’re going to Sidney‘s.  It’s her mom’s birthday.  It’s great that I’ve got all my work this week so this weekend when I have all this free time I won’t have anything to do.  More D&D delay.  These Central people only managed to stay focused for 2 hours this weekend.  They had a bit of a brutal fight, and poor Yusuke was unconscious basically the whole time.  Gotta go through with them and get them better acquainted with their powers to speed up combat.  Other than that Elisabeth needs to stop pouting about her bad rolls, and we need to get them far enough to have some better role playing hooks.  /shrug
