There are three types of people, nerds, non-nerds, and nerds who deny their nerdom. Nerds are the best, dunno who’s worst.

It’s the weekend. Friday Kait and I played DotA and hung out. Yesterday I played in a Magic tourney and lost and all, but whatever. And then I went to a comedian named Lee Camp. He was pretty good. And then I saw the Producers for free. I give it an 8. Today I played D&D. The Eberron campaign with Sal. 8 kinda didn’t play, and is making a new character for it. She has to go to rehearsal soon. :9) That’s my new smiley, it’s a three dimensional nose.

Nobody helped me with the name thing. I think I figured it out for myself though.

I’ve got to write up some stuff about my familiar now. 😛

Cadbury was closed. I don’t really care. I’m getting plenty of free food at them moment. We went and saw some cathedrals instead. A broken one and a new one. It was kinda neat, I suppose.

I’m currently waiting my turn for internet in the library. I’ve noticed a lot of what the computers are being used for is internet dating… I find that weird.

Only about 1 out of every 30 people has sex on any given day. Valium is the most taken drug on the planet. Less than 7% of the population donated blood. The average Brit consumes five fish and chips a year.

I was going to comment insightfully on some observed oddities of British behavior, but I can’t remember now. All I remember is my thought about their cups are so small even if you fill them it’s still half empty to an American. How depressing.

Dinah is on Prozac, no wonder she thinks I’m funny.

There are two types of people, those who love pie, and those who will forever be locked in mortal combat with me.

Also, the people that get my question and those who don’t. 😛 but that’s not very funny.

I went to the LAN. There were, at one point, 8 people available for the DotA playing. For those of you who don’t know DotA is a player made map using the Warcraft III engine. It involves only hero combat, so it’s really nothing like Warcraft. We were LANing it up 4 vs. 4, which was pretty good. I was a noob and died more than anyone else, but I also didn’t stink so much as to be worthless, and it was entertaining. Much more fun than CS (Counter Strike, not computer science in this instance).

If someone had hidden a spy camera in the room they would notice that we devolved into a bunch of geeks. I don’t think anyone there really would talk like they do at the LAN if it wasn’t for the rep that it’s what’s supposed to be done. It’s all done as a giant joke. Never the less, within an hour of good LANing going almost no real words are said anymore. It’s all, “omg gank 4 teh win!! gg!*” and “LOLZ noob!**” and such. I found it humorous, although I didn’t partake much since I’m quite and not much of a joiner and all. Fun stuff, I’ll probably go back in the future if it’s convenient.

8 made a cake. She brought me noodles at the LAN. 🙂 She’s so domestic. It was funny. She showed up w/ 3 of her female friends and nobody said anything except Keston. All the other nerds just kept staring at their screens. 8 asked me later if anyone had said anything about them, and I realized that they hadn’t. 🙂

One of the other LANer’s had his gf their. She had the worst Dell computer ever with a monitor so old it had a constant green tint. They tried to replace her graphics card only to discover her computer was so poorly designed that no graphics cards bigger than the one she had would fit. 😛 She tried to play a bit, but didn’t really succeed.

I wish 8 to come in the future. I dunno if she’d enjoy herself though. She tends to get board after staying in one place more than a couple of hours. And sometime people get on her nerves, and at the LAN there would be people. Also, she’d be a noob in the games we played. If she liked it it would be much fun for me though. 😀

Puerto Rico is a cool game, although I don’t seem to be very good at it. Lunch Money is cool too, and nobody will ever be considered good at such a game I don’t think.

Cakes done! Better give Minerva back to 8.

** Quite humorous, I just did something to show how you are incompetent at this particular activity.

I’ve acquired a boot disk and managed to make Milo recognize and boot from it. I’m not going to reinstall Windows until after I have a go at backing up his hard drive through Linfield ITS. So that’ll be Monday at least before more news develops.

Might go LANing tomorrow at Ody’s house. That could be fun. Time will tell.

8 has been away most of today. She went and worked out and I guess went to a movie after that. So it’s been a fairly uneventful Friday for me. I’ve read about half of my bio homework though, which is good. Going to play some Warcraft III in a bit here I think.

Hehe, Jerry and that girl that’s dating Chris just showed up. They knocked on John’s door and called to him and because the light was off and he didn’t respond assumed he was gone. I was surprised that he left w/o me noticing so after they left I investigated further to find he was just playing in the dark w/ headphones on. 🙂 He ran and caught them. They’re all back now. Maybe we’ll play a game or something so I won’t have to play alone. 😛

I’m thinking about making a habit on the blog of posting the “There are two types of people” that I think of in my day to day life. Who knows what frequency this will happen. I tend to find myself thinking that a lot though, and it’s often humorous, at least to me. So here’s today’s.

There are two type of people in the world, those who choose to be happy, and those who are forced into misery by the people and things around them.

So for those of you who don’t know, Maki has been doing tag week. This means he’s doing a bunch of dumb surveys that other people have done and told him to do, all in succession. He tagged 8 and me at the end of it, so I guess I’ll do the last one.

Anyway, I have to go to Calc soon, so I better get this tag thing done.

Ten years ago, March 1996:
I was 11, so that’s what… 5th grade. Paterson Elementary, second year under Mr. Stoddard. Mr. Stoddard erased Brickle from all the school computers, thus ruining my records. I read a lot in the back of class. First year I got total free reign on what math I was doing. Derrick Brown started following me around, everyone else kinda avoided me as a heathen and all. Played soccer, good stuff.

Five years ago, March 2001: Junior year of high school. First girlfriend that I ever had. Not really a girlfriend, more like a prolonged date to insure I would go to prom at some point in my life to make mother happy. Took AP Bio, did all the nerdy extra curriculars. Was playing AC and EQ in those days I believe. More good times.

One year ago, March 2005:
Was doing Organic Chemistry all the time. Lived in South, now called Mahaffey hall. Been dating 8 for a while, so that was already fairly settled. Roommates w/ John for the second year. Working on the take over of LRPC. Other than that pretty much just homework, D&D, and a little WoW. More good times in the life of me.

Yesterday, March 8, 2006: Went to all my classes except Research Methods, cause I dun have that class on Wednesdays. Ate some cereal and an english muffin. Got Puerto Rico and Lunch Money from the post office. Did my calc homework and my cog neuro reading. Fought w/ 8 a bit about random stuff. She was pretty stressed. Went to the math tutor only to find I am a genius and don’t need help. Played Puerto Rico and made milk shake. Watched TV for a while to kill time, and then read a book for pleasure (OMGZ!).

Tomorrow, March 10, 2006:
Will be Friday. I will go to comp sci, calc, and cog neuro in that order. Hopefully I’ll make my Divisor program look prettier, have no trouble understanding whatever infinite series nonsense we’re doing in calc, and will remember all the silly names for stuff the cognitive neuroscientists think are important. Then I’ll hopefully read some out of The Physiology of Excitable Cells cause I have to get that done by Monday. The might be D&D happening, but that hasn’t been determined yet. I might also steal some games from Keston in preparation for the LAN I might be going to on Saturday.
