I mentioned SoccerGirl Inc. in my earlier post with all my podcast links and stuff. Since then I have listened to about 3.5 episodes, randomly spaced throughout her entire broadcast career. I realize that it seems like I’m listening to an adult podcast at 3 am, which I am, which seems sorta sketchy and perverted, which it is. However, I will explain more, and I feel no shame. For one thing, the only reason I am listening to the podcast is because it’s the only podcast that has been mentioned in any podcast that I listened to that isn’t totally lame or that I haven’t listened to completely through. 2nd, I can’t sleep. 3rd, it’s not really mature. I mean, it is, but it’s not like porn. Basically, they swear a lot, and act like typical drugged up/drunk idiots. Ok, idiots is a bit strong. They’re smarter than plenty of idiots, but to me… they’re still classified as idiots. They’re smart enough to not think they’re stupid, and also smart enough to be good at maybe a few useful tasks. Anyway, I don’t like the cast. It has no content unless you like rambling drunken stories, drug use references, and random sexual comments. Then again, maybe I just listened to the wrong episodes. I know there’s no such thing as bad publicity, so I realize that I’m basically endorsing their podcast currently. But, I figure it’s small regardless, and really I have nothing against SoccerGirl and her associates. I just happen to intend to never listen to the podcast again. However, if any of you people check it out and like it, well then your lives are happier and I’ll consider that a positive.
So now I’m all out of podcasts and scrubs episodes, and it’s 4 hours ’till work and I still can’t sleep. I certainly can’t keep posting these blog updates, cause if you look chronologically, I’m sure you will measure an exponential decrease in quality. I’ll figure something out. Stop fretting everyone.
I got the quiz from HedyMack who I found out about cause she posted on Matt‘s blog, who she started reading because ERL reads her blog and Matt’s blog. How tangled and such. Coincidentally, HedyMack said she started reading Matt’s blog cause she thought the post he wrote in response to my comment was hilarious, so I’d like to take credit for his new reader.
I actually have much loyalty to you 8. These quizzes don’t know everything. It’s cooler if everyone doesn’t know I’m whipped though, so shhh…. I <3 you.
I’m on the internet. I called in and answered the questions on the 5 questions podcast that I mentioned a while ago, and he put my answer on the podcast. I don’t necessarily recommend listening, cause I sound like a voice cracking retard, but still, cool. My voice doesn’t actually crack that much I dun think, I think it’s the mic or something. I’ll try and be more manly in further answering. Anyway, I am proof that even people who can’t really answer the questions can get on the show, so if you were skeptical, there’s ur evidence. Thank you.
Adam’s Mom: Ah… it’s getting dark already. I hate when the days get shorter. Don’t you hate that?
Me: No.
Adam’s Mom: What? How can you not hate losing day time?
Me: I think it’s a waste of energy. What’s the point of hating something you cannot possibly affect.
Adam’s Mom: …
Adam: I hate when the days get shorter, mom.
Stolen from Flickr. Look at the other pic of this event, it’s cool too.
I’m glad we have a 4 syllable word for this. Take that anyone who argues against English being the best language ever.
8 has been doing a good job of updating lately, so I haven’t felt the need so much. Also, I’ve been pretty busy, but here I am again.
Yesterday was the last day of work w/ a hoe. Tomorrow I begin work w/ an elevator. It should be easier, but I still have to get up early and be in the sun and get all dirty. 😛
After work yesterday, Pat, Adam, and I went boating for about 6 hours. Pretty nuts. Good times though.
On the topic of birds, on the way home from work yesterday a hawk w/ a snake in it’s talons flew barely over the car and was clearly in view. It looked pretty cool. There was a train in the background too. Would make a weird sort of painting. Anyway, then when we were boating I saw a heron or some sort of fish eating bird dive into the water in the suicidal looking way. It came up, and I didn’t see any food in it’s beak, but it was still an odd coincidence.
The rest of the time I’ve been sleeping, and talking to 8, and watching Scrubs episodes.
I went boating w/ Adam, Pat, Brittany, Joe (Adam’s college roommate guy I’d never met previously), Holly (Pat’s sister), Sam (Holly’s friend), Adam’s mom, and Adam’s new puppy. Yeah. The puppy had the affinity for me usual for animals and laid on me and under me and licked me etc. If I had not forgotten my camera in my sleep deprived state I could have gotten some good pictures probably. Good pictures of people being dragged by the boat as well. I went skiing. Had a couple good runs. Enjoyed it. Water was cold, but everything else around here is hot so it’s ok. Anyway, I’m board writing about that.
There is currently a big bug tormenting me. It’s too big to smash w/o significantly staining the wall, and it won’t go on paper or anything so I can take it outside. It just flying around every minute or so and attacks me or my laptop screen. Annoying.
Of note I think is that both Maki and Matt mentioned 8 and I in their recent posts specifically, and linked our blog. For those of you too lazy to read what I link I want to make sure you know that Matt described me as, “handsomely disheveled” which I think is awesome, even if he is a guy. Anyway, both of their blogs are linked down on the right in our “Other people’s blogs that we read” section and they’re interesting and funny and you should check it out.
The new podcast I’ve actually caught completely up on is Comedy4Cast. It’s got 4 minute episodes with comedy skits. Some better than others, most good. Very nice addition to your hum drum life. Also been listening to TWiT (This Week in Tech) which is basically Screen Savers on the internet and w/o pictures. For those of you who don’t know what that is it’s tech nerds babbling about tech news. Pretty entertaining to me. They are funny guys occasionally, and you can learn useful stuff. Like did you know the guys who did this sort of thing have decided to make a .xxx extention for exactly what it seems it would be for. Cool huh?
I should sleep. Have more battles w/ Sol tomorrow. Also an eye exam. Maybe I’ll get some new glasses. 8 already has new ones picked out apparently, so the faces of the internet are changing.
Stupid bug!
A field of dirt. A desolate land, hated by Sol (that’s the Washingtonian god of the Sun for those uneducated out there) and abandoned by all other gods save one, the benign Agros (that’s the Washingtonian god of Wheat for those super uneducated out there). On this dirt, daring to resist Sol’s gaze, with a blessing from Agros in the form of some shielding clouds, are 3 mere mortals. Through fine dust as high as their ankles they walk in a line, each step kicking the dirt in the face of their companions. With only the tools of their trades, the anointed weapons, Excalabur, Murdanator, and Myhoe they fiercly fight. From battle to battle they move without dally. Huge clouds of dust obscure their battles and ones heart skips a beat each instant before the dust clears to reveal that again man had defeated plant, that metal had cleft root in twain. As the three went about their task of killing their foes a very strange thing happened. A few drops of water, single and scarce, fell directly from the sky onto the ground around them, as if their toil made even the god’s sweat. And this sweat did mark the end of their help from Agros, who finally fled from the power of Sol. And as the heat waves rose from the dirt, not only the road, the men finally left the field of battle, determined to return to finish their foes. But while dreaming of water and rest and shade, one man had a thought that was not normally made. The field was like him. It was vast and filled with weeds, but it could grow a useful plant too. As long as one knew their were weeds, and worked to get rid of them, the useful plant would continue to flourish. And with that thought the man discovered that weeding a field, was man’s ultimate task.
Ok, that’s sorta weird up there. But I wrote it. I also went to the dentist and finished the last of my fillings. I passed out afterwards cause I hadn’t slept. Actually I kinda slept through the dentist visit too. Still messed up sleep wise. Tomorrow there’s a boating plan maybe, and an ice cream social I’m supposed to go to. The day after that there is more weeding, in the literal sense, and an eye exam. Yay!
With regards to 8’s last post, I think at least partially it has to do with the news that she can’t visit me in a couple weeks as planned. I think it sux too, but, I don’t hate the month. 🙂
Well, I haven’t been updating much, wanna know why? Too bad. I’ve had free time. I’ve been very busy listening though. You guys should prolly take a page from my book there. To be clear, by “guy” I’m not excluding females.
What I’ve been listening too are podcasts. For those of you who don’t and can’t figure it out, podcasts are basically just audio files made by people and groups of people and hosted on the internet for the purpose of being downloaded and listened to, commonly on iPods. With the addition of RSS feeds and an increase in popularity they’ve been grouping together and being indexed. iTunes now has a section of their page devoted to them and you can simply click subscribe and you will automatically download any updates and you can listen to them. Some are cool. I’ve been going around and listening from the beginning to the current of certain one. I started with NPR Science Friday, and a Canadian science news radio station thing (Quirks and Quarks) similar. I moved from that to Skepticality. Skepticality is a show put on by two people who have a lot of free time and are total nerds. They actually reference Firefly and Serenity early on which kinda scored tome points with me. Anyway, they talk about being skeptical and whatever they want. Pretty serious, but I like it. They get interviews from important people in my world. Also, they’re very connected in the podcast world and led me to other people to listen too.
I’ve listened to virtually everything done by QuickHitts, Slacker Astronomy, and 5 Questions so far. QuickHitts is just fairly quick and insulting opinions of a guy. Pretty funny, and I kinda agree with him on a lot of things so that’s cool. Slacker Astronomy is a bunch of astronomy stuff, and I’m a huge nerd so I think it’s cool. Good stuff. 5 Questions is a show where he asks 5 questions a week and then reads the answers he likes and gives away prizes and has interviews. I’m still listening, and I’ll probably mention the news ones in a later post. I have also heard of a thing called Soccer Girl Inc. which some might be interested in. There are female nipples on her site, so you have search yourself, and I haven’t actually listened to it because I have a suspicion it will just be a girl talking about sex and trying to get listeners that way. I did hear her interviewed though and she’s smarter than the average person, or at least can pretend for half an hour. So if you want to listen to the “first naked podcaster” google her. Also, there is apparently a podcast that casts bible verses translated into Klingon. Yeah.
Listen to some stuff if you want and then you can be a cool podcast listener like me. Plus you can maybe recommend something to me so I don’t have to listen to the 1000’s of casters all by myself.
In news not related to amateur internet radio I’m going to go walk out in a field in a few minutes and kill weeds. Much like posts long ago. Currently here in lovely Kennewick, Washington there is a drought and a heat wave so we only expect 90 degree whether if we get out there by 7:15 am. 😛 Pat’s coming if he can find some suitable footwear.
As for me being awake. It’s a weird story. See… all summer I’ve been staying awake until I was tired and then going to sleep. So this caused me to sleep at like 3ish on average and wake up around noon. Well, a couple days ago I forced myself to go to sleep at around 2 when I wasn’t really tired and I didn’t wake up until 4 pm. Since then I’ve been totally messed up and I dun get tired until I pass out and wake up at a random time. I blame 8. She should be getting online and providing me an incentive to adhere to a semi-normal schedule.
Also, we’re almost up to 530 posts on this blog. So… book next?
