National spooge on your enemy’s car day

Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom is a book I read half of my senior year of high school. It’s the one with the whuffie or however it’s spelled. I talked about it earlier. Remember? Anyway, that link takes you to a podcast of a guy reading it aloud. He’s only just started, but still cool.

Remember that whole SEforA thing? Apparently they’re mentioned in the Peter Agre interview on the Colbert Report. You can watch it from the Comedy Central place, but I hate their set up so I’m waiting for it to come out on Youtube or something.

did I say 16 pages? I meant 20

So it’s fall break officially. Fall break for me amounts to one day of no classes. 😛 This year almost everyone I know is staying, so I’m staying. Not much point going home anyway.

I’ve got work to do. But I’ll listen to Science Friday first. There’s this relatively new group that people should check out. It’s got “scientist” in the title, but really I think anyone who believes that debate and rationality are important to political decision making should look at it occasionally.

Also you’ll notice I added a link to the the official Linfield mycoblog. I dunno how often he’ll update but it should be noted that a source of mushroom news exists. 🙂

And finally, for some reason the archives of this, and probably a bunch of other blogs, are not available. Anyone know why? Cause that’s not coo’.

It’s been almost 300 days

So I guess I should get you all back acquainted with the News in Norway. Recently they decided to throw a guy in jail (for like 2 weeks or something) for being a racist. As you know, in those crazy European nations, that sort of thing is illegal. I think it’s silly.

Also in the Norway News section is this story about gay animals. It’s not from my usual source, but I’ve been branching out as I’ve previously indicated. Norway, as presented by the articles I’ve linked to on this blog, is one the coolest places ever.

Ok, out of the Norway News vein is a story about me. I was riding my bike to 8’s house last night, across campus, in the rain, at 1:30 in the morning. I met another cyclist going the opposite direction. He was on my side of the street and didn’t see me. We nearly collided at a corner. We both slammed on the brakes and our tires stopped like an inch from each other. He was like, “Whoa, sorry,” and I was like, “Lawl, it’s ok.” We then parted. It was pretty epic. You prolly had to see it.

I spent all of today sleeping or in the lab. My independent research thing is moving forward again now that we got all the ingredients for our magic potion. So I worked in there for 4 hours today. I slept till 12:30. Consequentially I didn’t get my letter mailed to grandma and I didn’t work on fixing my computer. I’m pretty confident my computer will not be fixed in time for Ody LAN, which is sad. 8 offered to lend me hers that night, since she has a friend coming into town that day. I might take it, although her comp is not as cool as mine, it will run DotA. I might just stay home and do homework though. I looked at the MCB take home test I have and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be very easy.

I’ve barely eaten anything, and 8 is not online, so she apparently isn’t going to be cooking me dinner. I guess I should think of preparing something on my own. Something that isn’t a granola bar. Oh, nm, it’s 8! 🙂

and they don’t share with anyone

Most of the random blogs I have been reading have pretty much dried up. Those Jacksonville people are a bunch of quitters. And those that haven’t quit are not very prolific. With my adoption of RSS technology blog reading is a slightly less time consuming activity as well. The point is I’m in the market for some good blogs. If anyone would like to link me to a suggestion that would be swell.

Also, mother, would you get Sandra to activate the RSS on her blog?

For those of you with blogs, come on. Challenge yourself. Be a producer. Yar!

why iterators?

YouTube assures me that the link to my blog is coming, but I don’t see it yet, and I can’t wait any longer. You can find the clip of Richard Dawkins on the Colbert Report at Richard Dawkins’ website. Also on his website is a banner of scrolling pictures. If you watch it long enough it eventually comes to the image I tried to get to show up here but failed for a variety of reasons. Anyway, it’s the one with the quote. Quite interesting I think. It would make a good bumpersticker if I had a car and could drive and all that jazz. Check it out.

In the not to distant future, scientists discover how to wield dark magics

Ok, so I haven’t done a big update post in quite some time. There are reasons for that though. Today was the day of my Senior Comprehensive Exam. I need to pass it to graduate. But I’ll get to that later.

Over the weekend I wasn’t posting cause my parents were taking up all my time. It was family weekend. They brought down some fancy clothes for the exam and took me out to eat and such. Grand ol’ time and whatnot. Some of 8’s family came and had a meal with my family as well, so that was cool.

On Saturday I saw Ant Bully and Clerks II. Ant Bully was pretty crappy, but I laughed once or twice, so I gave it a 5. Clerks II was funny, but obviously targeted at the semi-immature male demographic, so it’s not for everyone. I gave it an 8.

I also took my computer to the weekly Ody LAN, despite the fact that I wouldn’t probably be able to play much. I almost got to play a 4v4 game of DotA, but it got ruined before it got far. Upon returning to my home my computer no longer functions. It will load up a blinking cursor but won’t so much as let me into the BIOS. It is odd. The lights inside the computer all seem to be lit up, I dunno what that means. I’ll blame Keston for everything, I think.

Played some more Eberron. Sal, however, is still only level 7. Still alive though, despite Dimitri’s evil efforts.

Oh, and I started up in a new D&D campaign run by John. I’m replacing Keston who kinda got booted for making a character John hated. I’m behind in XP consequentially, which is new for me. Not entirely interesting to you all, but it leads me to John’s blogworthy report. He says the worst taste ever is Asian seasoned fried cucumber and Diet Rite.

Ok, so the test. The test goes down like this, 3 professors are on my panel. They each ask me questions for 12 minutes and each views my responses to the others. They can ask me anything related to biology. I have to respond to the best of my abilities and have to stand up by the chalkboard and draw stuff and wear fancy clothes and such. I got a B+, which is good enough for me. I was quite relaxed and made all the professors laugh on several occasions, so that bodes well for my presentation giving skills. They told me B+ means I know as much as an A person, I just don’t access it, or understand the question, as quick as they’d like.

So anyway that’s all over and done with. Now I have a program due tomorrow, a take home test from MCB (16 pages), a test in stats on Friday, and a homework assignment due that same day. Plus all the grad school stuff I’ve been putting of because of this test. Overall my work load is theoretically lighter though.

I took 8 out to Kame while I was still all dressed up. Wouldn’t want to fail to make full use of such a rare occasion. One of the professors on my panel told me there was talk among some of my peers of coming by at the time of my test in order to see me in pants. That’s pretty funny. They didn’t, which is probably for the best. Here’s the pictures I promised them though. 😛 The first two are of my friend, Pat’s, suit which he generously offered to let me borrow. The last two are what I actually ended up wearing, for reasons that are semi-obvious. Hover over them for further explanations.
