Tests

I have two of them today. I have nothing else except a meeting with my advisor about classes next semester, and lab work and homework and smeg. What I mean is Philosophy was cancelled. The tests tomorrow are going to suck… specifically chem test is going to suck. Oh well. Can’t really do anything about it. 😛

Things that happen

Yesterday went to see Ruthie who was on the Real World Hawaii. I never saw the show. She was brought to the school to talk about being bisexual and drinking and such, cause she’s experienced in those areas. Fusion did the organization, so I was obligated to go via 8. 😛 I think she looks like Tiger Woods.

She had a hat on… it makes it more obvious. You sorta have to ignore the hair too.

Yeah, she talked about half the time about the Real World… which I guess is probably what people wanted to hear. *shrug* Wasn’t bad though I guess.

Finished my chem homework today. Now all I have left this weekend technically is study. Plenty of that though.

Going to learn how to play Magic: The Gathering from John at 5. Going to Taste of Moracco (sic) tonight at 6. There is a clean comedian coming at 8:30 which I might go to. There’s an interesting story behind it. Maybe 8 will tell it? If she doesn’t I’ll post it next time. After the comedian they’re showing some movie… about a coach/principal something to do with basketball. Also tonight from 7 – 2 there is Halo going on. I don’t know how much of that I’ll do after the dinner. That’s just what’s on the table.

The suffix be- apparently in Old English means away from… which is why behead is behead instead of dehead or something like that. I didn’t know.

blogs

I know you all have been reading the blog I post on with Kait http://viviiixiv.blogspot.com/. And the other blog we made that’s just quotes http://ohpiu.blogspot.com/. But now you should start reading our new blog http://tehdigerati.blogspot.com/. It has us two again, and so far another one of our friends here at Linfield, and Kait’s brother. The idea is that we’ll post what we learn in our classes, and then discuss them and such. By reading what others learn, and explaining to others what we supposedly learned, we will be uber knowledgeable and smart and r0x0r! So join in, comment, and if you want you can maybe get added to the list of contributors and can post what you learn.

This is what chemistry feels like

I get to go to England

I had my interview with the professor leading the English Jan Term abroad course that I applied for. He seemed to like me, said I was in. So I’m in. Going to go to England next year. Yay! He says that he usually sees a play or two a day when he’s there… so I’m thinking about spending my money on that. 😛 He said my interview was good, so the fact that I’m male wasn’t the whole reason he was taking me. Apparently with me it’s 2 male students and 13 or 14 females. I’m hoping I can divorce myself from the melodrama and shopping. I’ll be supposed to read a lot, so I suppose I can just disappear with that excuse a lot. Anyway, it’s all good.

I’m glad it’s the weekend. This weekend will be busier than most, due to tests, but it’s ok. Weekends still involve sleeping in :).

Aftenposten Norway, Norwegian news in English

Aftenposten Norway, Norwegian news in English

Wow. That’s pretty nuts. They’re also letting a psycho killer off, cause he’s psycho. 🙂

News industry

did you know they reported that the pope was dead 26 hours before he actually was? They also reported the lead judge of the Saddam Hussein trial was dead and showed his face when he wasn’t. Then there’s the famous forged Bush military record stuff. And I’m sure much more.

Seems like the news people suck. Granted… I’m getting this information from the Daily Show. But if what they say is right… then it’s not really much worse then getting news from a real news source. If what they say is wrong… then it’s just entertaining and the Daily Show still wins. That’s a sweet gig.

Two random things besides the usual update

First of all, I thought of something so I thought I’d write it down. I was thinking about the stereotypical liberal thing… and how, at least for my young peers, the feels are sort of that because of those liberal beliefs they are not real americans… but that’s a good thing. They try to divorce themselves of their americanism… feel like europeans or canadians that were unfortunately born on the wrong side of the boreders. The idea is that if anything gets really bad, like a draft, they’ll run away.

On the other side… the stereotypical redneck concervative conciders himself to be a true american. Never thinks of leaving, and if things get really bad, there plan is to kill a bunch of liberals until things are fixed again.

Now, I understand that this is not very accurate on a personal level, but I think it’s semi true if you averaged out the populations. I think that the liberals should alter their perception, to that of being different but also true Americans. I’m sure many “liberals” (I hate labeling and such, but it’s for convience… so don’t give me a hard time) feel that they are true americans as well, but I think generally those liberally minded should at least put the issue in the forefront of their minds. If the idea that both sides were actually americans took hold on both sides… I think things would be easier.

I think this is much greater in the youth, but I have to deal with that… so the youth should fix it.

Anyway, I’m not going to spend any more time or energy trying to articulate that thought. I think a lot of people have probably thought it already. Next one.

I saw I <3 Huckabees yesterday. It's a good movie... funny and such. I decided earlier though that I really don't like the philosophical message (or at least one of them I got) from it's ending. I dunno if anyone has seen it, but basically it's an arguement between the idea that everything is connected and therefore you can stop worrying because everything is really one thing, and the idea that there is no connections and everything is random... and therefore you can stop worrying because you can't control anything. In the end the main character decides that it's a combination... which is good. However, he says that everything is connected, but only because it emerges "from the manure of human drama." That's not true. If you're going to say everything in the universe is connected then "human drama" is not going to have anything to do with it. *shakes head* whatever. On to me and more mundane things. I got a 94% on my micro test. Good to know I’m still go at bio. I missed 5 points on really stupid easy chemistry, which I think proves that chemistry is pointless. Oxidize NO3-… *shakes head*. In the way of bad news I have some, although it’s just impending bad news. I have to go to lab in an hour, and it’s going to be an unknown lab where I have to id some chemical and then synthesize it and test it to make sure I did everything right. It’s a whole new type of lab that we’ve never done, and the lab write up is going to be due the day after the test (which is the hardest of the year according to the professor). Yay! In micro bio lab this week I also have to identify a bacteria, which I’ve never done before, just for added fun. So that’s all yucky. On the good side, once I finish this weird unknown lab, pass an annoyingly difficult quiz on it, (which will be on the Thursday after the test :P) and complete a double unknown lab… I’m done for the year labwise in chem. So if I get lucky I could have a couple weeks of not having any chem labs… which would be wootdom. I want to play. I don’t want to work. :P

Long time no update

I’ve been spending my free time doing things other than update the blog. I’ve got some news now though that I suppose I can post.

I didn’t get the internship I applied for. I’m not really surprised, it was pretty much a longshot. I’m kinda glad too since it means maybe I’ll get to be lazy a bit longer. I like lazing.

Saw Vince Morrison (comedian) yesterday. I’ve seen him on TV before. He was good. Stayed an extra hour about doing Q&A and off the cuff stuff… which is good to know a comedian can do. Keston’s roommate Andrew got honorably mentioned for a Q:
“Do black people actually watch BET or is that just for white people who want to be black?”

I didn’t think it was that special a question… but I guess since he actually asked it he deserves some credit.

After the comedian I stayed and watched “In Good Company” with 8. It was a pretty decent movie… ya know… good message and stuff. Some funny parts as well. I think it was an odd choice though to have the guy who’s motivated to do good through his work be an ad space salesman. I can’t really think of a more pointless job… but whatever.

Today I saw Sin City! It’s teh coolest. I think Andrew will buy it, and then I will want it playing in the background during our summer of gaming. That way if there is a momentary lapse in sensory input from the game, I can glance over and have a 90% chance of seeing blood or almost naked girls. Also, the whole way the movie is set up looks cool. Elijah Woods is in it, tell Mar to go see it Mom.

I picked an English class for my last ditch effort at going abroad next jan term. It’s in England. I heard it was good through 8 from a gay English major… so I’m not all that confident that I’ll see the course the same way he did. But I’m hopeful. Plus it wouldn’t hurt me to take an English class once in my college career. Plus England.

My independent research is pretty much dead. My mushrooms won’t grow so I can’t manipulate them to do my bidding. 😛 The plan is currently that Professor Murphy will do something magical with administration, the outcome being that I don’t have any blemishes on my transcript and I do research with him next semester. That will probably be a better time anyway, since I won’t have such a heavy class load. Hopefully. I haven’t picked classes yet. I’m thinking of taking physics because Keston is taking it. It’s at 8 am though. 😛 I’ll talk to my advisor.

I think I have 2 tests week from… today technically. 😛 I’m almost through this semester though. It’ll be good once it’s over.

I’ve enjoyed my 47 hour weekend at least.
