Playstation 3 – general: 1st ps3 CM – EN audio streaming video – Playsyde
So this is the very first PS3 commercial. It pretty much just sucks. That’s my take anyway.

So Steve Irwin died and everyone is freaking out about it. I wasn’t going to comment, but recently I read that some one wants to destroy the tape of his death. This is totally unacceptable. If Steve didn’t want people to watch him die in a gruesome fashion, why would he spend his life video taping himself doing crazy stuff with dangerous animals? I’ve heard from the internet (very reliable) that he’s actually expressed in his will that his death should be shown on TV if it was caught on tape.
So this is my official call to save Steve Irwin’s death tapes. The should be put in a museum after copied 10,000 times and distributed all over the internet.
Update: Immediately after posting this I began listening to the Sept. 6 episode of Penn Radio. They picked the topic. Just wanted to point to it, as you can listen for free, and also, Penn says Steve Irwin said he wanted his death released if it was filmed in a 2002 interview, so… more credibility and such.
| Here’s a little background for you non-Quakers. What is happening in this video is people are shooting rockets and other high powered guns at the ground/walls near them in order to propel them on the shockwave. They have enabled a cheat mode so they take no damage and cannot die. Lot’s of people do a bit of this to get places faster or something, but this stuff is special. In the interests of not stealing, I had nothing to do with it. I found it from BoingBoing who linked here. |

Not much. Let’s make this a rambling post.
I missed two classes this morning because I failed to properly set the alarm. Yay! I would have only missed 1.05 classes, but the second class has this rule where if you’re more than 3 minutes late you can’t come. So great. I apparently missed some sort of in class assignment too. I got the homework sheet he handed out though, and I did the first part of it in like 5 minutes, so that’s cool.
As for the class I legitamitely missed, I haven’t found the professor yet, which is odd, since I went to her office during her office hours. I will try one more time before my other class, which I will not miss.
My mother informed me yesterday of the final part of my GRE score. It was good enough.
Also yesterday was the first game night of the year. We have a shortage of games somewhat because Keston doesn’t know where he put one of them, and he has lost some of his personal ones we used to play with, but we still had like 20 people come. I think it’s a record. Matt, this new guy, brought a pirate game, and Cem? (pronounced Jim?) brought a weird game that was also played. There were so many people that I think the idea of doing future ones in our house is kinda shot. That’s too bad. We’re still trying to pin down a day and time to do these game nights, but there’s a lot of schedules still being formed since it’s so early in the year.
In video game news I got accepted into Archlord Beta yesterday. I got to level 5. The game is totally uninspired as far as I can tell. It has some PvP apparently, but I’ve not seen any. Even if it does it’s lame WoW style PvP, so I’m pretty sure Archlord is not worth buying. They do have one feature where you can pay real money to get some in game items. The idea is that rich people with little time to play will pay for them, and then poor people with lots of time to play with have to pay a lower monthly cost. I dunno much about the scheme, but it’s not particularly interesting to me. I’ll probably play it a bit more, but I’m not holding my breath that anything is going to blow me away.
Ok, that is all. I swear someday I’ll do a post of a ranting philosophical manner and not just an update. I dunno if anyone likes those better or not. I swear none the less.
Here’s what you need to manage all these pictures my gf is putting on here.

Ok, I’ve got a lot of ground to cover. Internet is not up in my house yet, but it’s the weekend, so I came to the computer lab and decided I’d make a blog post. Whooo.
So when we left off I was off to PAX. Good news, I made it. And I got in and saw all the nerds. I played Donkey Kongo quite a bit for free, I was in a Mario Kart: Double Dash Tournament with John where we were 2 points from making it to the 3rd round. That means we beat like 200 people. I saw the Video Game Pianist again… I like him. I also got to see other bands, but I dun like them as much. Except of course MC Frontalot. I played in a Spoils tournament and got some free cards. It’s a fun game. I need to play it more to make a full review. I also played Betrayal at the House on the Hill, which is a weird game. Went into the Expo and got a bunch of shwag. Got to watch 8 and her bro play Lego Star Wars II which looks precky sweet. I also saw the Warhammer Online. Maybe I’ll do a bit of a run down of my feelings on the game sometime.
We got a hotel room as it turns out, kinda last second, so I did sleep a total of about 8 hours over the weekend. We got back to school at about 9 on Sunday and had to climb in the window to get into my house because Keenan and Mike were curiously absent.
Two days later was the club fair. We set up our booth and got about 20 freshman to sign up. We told everyone about a little get together we held 30 minutes after the end of the club fair at our house (Previously called the Lead Lodge, now moving towards Nerd House or Geek Grotto). There was food and everything. We had a lack of chairs, but 3 board games were played and some Smash Bros. and Double Dash, so I think things went over pretty well.
In other club related news I’ve submitted a request for funds to buy 4 board games, one being Betrayal at the House on the Hill. Plans are in the works for a pretty intricate newb campaign to start next weekend I believe. I’ve contacted Tenacious, the company that’s making The Spoils, and am working on getting them to send us cards to run a tournament here. We’re continuing our game night tradition, although as of a yet a hard core day and time may be difficult, because our current one excludes Keston partially, and 8 maybe as well. Anyway, lots of club stuff happening.
I also went to class. I am going to be doing research with my Molecular Cell Biology professor it looks like. I switched classes around so I’m taking Senior Seminar, which is the big class I have to take to graduate. Still to early to say anything about how the classes will be or the year in general. I think it’s going to be pretty busy though, since I’m going to be spending a lot of time doing grad school applications.
On the grad school application front I have figured out who all my recommenders are going to be and gotten their consent. I’m also scheduled to get advice from Dr. Roberts on picking more grad schools and on letters and such. Should be good.
Yesterday my parents came down with all my stuff. This is good because it means I’m no longer living on shwag and a toothbrush. I slept in my own room last night, cause 8 is gone and I have blankets now, and it was very nice. I can see stars out the window, and I can also see people coming and going from our house if I want.
The house itself is nice as well. It’s in the middle of campus and is quite the hub for nerdy people, which is good because it means I don’t have to go anywhere and I can still socialize. We bought this giant Gothic rotten table apparently made from sunken pirate viking ships. It’s our D&D table. It’s sweet. We’re looking for steins to go with it, so if you have any, we’re accepting donations.
In a final bit of news, last night Keston rented Mario Soccer, I think it’s technically called Mario Strikers or something. Anyway, I think it’s very fun. Quick to learn, very funny occasionally, and fun to play. I’m a soccer guy though, so I think I like it a bit more than the average Joe.
