Let’s use text

Ok, I’ve got a lot of ground to cover. Internet is not up in my house yet, but it’s the weekend, so I came to the computer lab and decided I’d make a blog post. Whooo.

So when we left off I was off to PAX. Good news, I made it. And I got in and saw all the nerds. I played Donkey Kongo quite a bit for free, I was in a Mario Kart: Double Dash Tournament with John where we were 2 points from making it to the 3rd round. That means we beat like 200 people. I saw the Video Game Pianist again… I like him. I also got to see other bands, but I dun like them as much. Except of course MC Frontalot. I played in a Spoils tournament and got some free cards. It’s a fun game. I need to play it more to make a full review. I also played Betrayal at the House on the Hill, which is a weird game. Went into the Expo and got a bunch of shwag. Got to watch 8 and her bro play Lego Star Wars II which looks precky sweet. I also saw the Warhammer Online. Maybe I’ll do a bit of a run down of my feelings on the game sometime.

We got a hotel room as it turns out, kinda last second, so I did sleep a total of about 8 hours over the weekend. We got back to school at about 9 on Sunday and had to climb in the window to get into my house because Keenan and Mike were curiously absent.

Two days later was the club fair. We set up our booth and got about 20 freshman to sign up. We told everyone about a little get together we held 30 minutes after the end of the club fair at our house (Previously called the Lead Lodge, now moving towards Nerd House or Geek Grotto). There was food and everything. We had a lack of chairs, but 3 board games were played and some Smash Bros. and Double Dash, so I think things went over pretty well.

In other club related news I’ve submitted a request for funds to buy 4 board games, one being Betrayal at the House on the Hill. Plans are in the works for a pretty intricate newb campaign to start next weekend I believe. I’ve contacted Tenacious, the company that’s making The Spoils, and am working on getting them to send us cards to run a tournament here. We’re continuing our game night tradition, although as of a yet a hard core day and time may be difficult, because our current one excludes Keston partially, and 8 maybe as well. Anyway, lots of club stuff happening.

I also went to class. I am going to be doing research with my Molecular Cell Biology professor it looks like. I switched classes around so I’m taking Senior Seminar, which is the big class I have to take to graduate. Still to early to say anything about how the classes will be or the year in general. I think it’s going to be pretty busy though, since I’m going to be spending a lot of time doing grad school applications.

On the grad school application front I have figured out who all my recommenders are going to be and gotten their consent. I’m also scheduled to get advice from Dr. Roberts on picking more grad schools and on letters and such. Should be good.

Yesterday my parents came down with all my stuff. This is good because it means I’m no longer living on shwag and a toothbrush. I slept in my own room last night, cause 8 is gone and I have blankets now, and it was very nice. I can see stars out the window, and I can also see people coming and going from our house if I want.

The house itself is nice as well. It’s in the middle of campus and is quite the hub for nerdy people, which is good because it means I don’t have to go anywhere and I can still socialize. We bought this giant Gothic rotten table apparently made from sunken pirate viking ships. It’s our D&D table. It’s sweet. We’re looking for steins to go with it, so if you have any, we’re accepting donations.

In a final bit of news, last night Keston rented Mario Soccer, I think it’s technically called Mario Strikers or something. Anyway, I think it’s very fun. Quick to learn, very funny occasionally, and fun to play. I’m a soccer guy though, so I think I like it a bit more than the average Joe.
