Let me tell you the story of how I lose. Poker tournament. More than 1000 starters. I’ve been playing along, got myself a nice $16,000 or so chip stack. In about 20th of 140 left. Figure I’ll be making some pretty decent money. I get pocket aces. This is Texas Hold’em for those of you who don’t know, and pocket aces is the best possible pre flop hand. So I raise, and everyone folds but one other guy. Flop comes and it’s good for me. No pairs, no flush or straight draws. He goes all in. I think, and decide he has a pocket pair, but figure he doesn’t have a set (that would be 3 of a kind) because he woulda slow played it more. Which means I’m in good shape. So I call. He turns over pocket kings. This is good news. He has a 2 outer. That means, that there are a maximum of 2 cards in the deck that could allow him to beat me. 9 people on the table, 3 cards for the flop, one burnt, means that there are 30 cards left, and a maximum of 2 of them will save him. In this position I win 97% of the time. Turn is a King. I’m left with $600. I go out in 132nd and get no moneys. Winning would have put me in first, which if I had mainted, would have been almost $200. That’s a lot for me. 😛 Stupid statistics. Damn my ability to do math. I pretty sure it’s what keeps me from being lucky.
And furthermore… haha, naw, I’m done.
Oh, I shaved.
Off to the dentist again. Amusing related anecdote, my mom made me change my shirt before I went last time cause of this chocolate stain, but I changed into a shirt the same color as the bib remember? So now that I’m still wearing it, they’ll probably notice I haven’t changed anyway. Hah!
